On 1 January 1777, Daley enlisted for 3 years in Capt. Hatch Dent’s Company, Col. Price’s 2nd Maryland Regiment of foot, the “Maryland 400”.
The Regt. saw action during the New York Campaign, at White Planes, at Fishkill, the Battle of Trenton and Princeton.
At the Battle of White Planes, the Maryland 400 was given credit for turning the tide of the war.
After the war, Daley was given a Land Grant of 50 acres in Western Maryland in lieu of back pay.
