Charles Redfield’s “Civil War Charleville”
In the late 1950’s the G. Great Grandfather’s family farm was sold. An uncle did one last walk through and found the musket in the attic rafters. Perhaps the front band & rod were lost when pulling it out.
Family history claims it was carried off to war in 1861. Previously a percussion conversion had been made. A dolphin head percussion hammer was welded to the original F/L hammer base.
This musket may be a veteran of both the Civil War and the Revolutionary War.
